HISTORY
Dosa is known to exist since the 5th century AD in the country. It is believed that the crepe was found initially in the Temple streets of Udipi, Karnataka. Chalukya King Somesvara III first referenced Dosa in Tamil literature in 1054 AD and later in 6 th century K.T. Achaya mentioned it.
NUTRITION
The recipe is eaten largely by the vegetarians and those having wheat allergies. Since the South Indian dish is prepared using rice it is high in carbohydrates and low in calories. Since they are very delicious yet light, they are popular among diet conscious people and those with digestion problems. An 86 gram Dosa provides 162 calories, which is just around 8% of the daily recommended intake. It is also a good source of protein.

This popular South Indian dish are served with extremely flavorful chutneys prepared using cilantro, fenugreek seeds, peanuts, coconut, dal and tamarind. Some of the popular chutneys are coconut chutneys, coriander chutney, mint chutney, tomato chutney, peanut chutney and tamarind chutneys.
